What cookies we use and why.
This Cookie Policy explains how CryoCloud B.V. ("CryoCloud", "we", "us", "our") uses cookies on www.cryocloud.io and the CryoCloud Web-App and Uploader (the "Apps").
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are files with a small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. They are placed on your device by your browser when you visit a website and allow the site to recognize your device, maintain secure sessions, and remember preferences. References to "cookies" in this policy include similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and pixels used for the same purposes.
2. Categories of cookies we use
CryoCloud uses two categories of cookies:
2.1 Functional (strictly necessary) cookies. These are required for the Apps and website to operate and cannot be switched off. They include cookies that:
authenticate Users and maintain secure sessions on the Web-App and Uploader;
preserve security tokens and protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF);
remember language, layout, or accessibility preferences;
support load balancing and basic site functionality.
2.2 Analytics cookies (consent-based). We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device that collect information such as pages viewed, time spent, approximate location (derived from a truncated IP address), and device/browser type. These cookies are placed only after you give consent through our cookie banner, and you may withdraw consent at any time. We have configured Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled and have disabled data sharing with Google for other Google products. A data processing agreement is in place with Google in accordance with Article 28 GDPR.
3. Legal basis
Functional cookies are placed without consent under Article 11.7a(3) of the Dutch Telecommunications Act, as they are strictly necessary to deliver the service you have explicitly requested. Where personal data is processed via these cookies, the legal basis is performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) or our legitimate interests in securing and operating the Apps (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), as further described in the Privacy Policy.
4. Cookies we do not use
CryoCloud does not use advertising cookies, marketing cookies, cross-site behavioral advertising cookies, or third-party tracking cookies for purposes other than the analytics described in Section 2.2. We do not transfer cookie data to third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes, and we do not engage in cross-context behavioural advertising.
5. Future use of non-essential cookies
If we introduce any non-essential cookies (for example, product analytics or telemetry beyond strictly functional usage), we will:
request your consent via a cookie banner before any such cookies are set;
present a granular choice (accept / reject / customize) on equal footing;
allow you to withdraw consent at any time through cookie settings on the website, with the same ease with which it was given.
Other than the Google Analytics cookies described in Section 2.2 (which are placed only after you give consent), no non-essential cookies will be placed on your device without your prior consent.
6. Retention
Functional cookies typically expire at the end of your browser session or within a short period (from a few days up to 12 months) depending on their purpose. Web/server log data associated with cookie use is retained for up to 12 months, consistent with Section 3 of the Privacy Policy. Specific maximum retention periods will be listed in the cookie banner if non-essential cookies are introduced in the future.
7. Managing cookies in your browser
You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view cookies placed on your device, block all or selected cookies, and delete cookies when you close the browser. Browser-specific instructions are available at:
