Automated Map Segmentation
Segment your map into multiple bodies based on the continuity of your map.

What it does
The automated map segmentation separates the body of your provided maps into multiple subunits based on the specfied number of regions. It will also automatically crate a region mask encompassing the subunits if turned on.
How it works
Segmentation divides the density into regions, one per subunit, along the boundaries where one component meets the next. It also applies smoothing filters to automatically detect boundaries where one protein or subunit ends and another begins.
The output is one region per subunit, which can be used to model each component separately, to focus on one part of the complex, or to check that the map's composition matches what you expected.

Schematic, not measured data. Given the number of subunits, the map on the left is divided into one region per subunit on the right.
Where it sits
Automated segmentation can be run on top of any job that creates 3D density map such as the Initial model job, 3D classification and 3D Refinement.
